One of the things I will miss about message boards is when I want to find out "what happened here,?" It occurs to me that the FAQ section of a movie page is a great way to share such info. I think FAQ access isn't available to many people. But I hope if the internet wayback machine will have archives, that people can comb them for answers that many people asked. Idk.
For ongoing television series, I highly recommend looking for them on reddit. Active moderators and the "downvote" system (to bury jerk comments) may make them an enjoyable alternative. YMMV.
