So what happened to that planned new movie?

I'm guessing it got cancelled, but does anyone have the story?

Any number of things could have gone wrong. Those participating could have abandoned it to move on to other projects. There could have been some issue over rights. They may have had trouble developing a good script and it has now fell into development hell. Who knows? If we ever do get a movie, maybe they will talk about some of the false starts and problems of the past.

Shane Black who was developing the screenplay was selected to write and direct Iron Man III, so he put Doc on the back-burner for the higher profile project. Hopefully, he'll get back to the Doc movie after he finishes working on Iron Man.

Ok, thanks. To be honest though, I don't know if a movie could do Doc justice.

I think Shane Black can.

He said in an interview that he wants to do it in the vein of Raiders of the Lost Ark: an exciting, thrilling adventure that is also a lot of fun.

I've been saying for years that that's the way it should be made!
