The Case of Too Many Suspects the pilot on the Mystery Movie of the Week got me hooked.
Jim Hutton was great in character.
Brimmer, Inspector Queen and all of the rest were perfect.
We saw it a few weeks ago on You Tube and really liked it. I had never seen Ellery Queen before and my husband had seen one or two episodes many years ago and liked it.
I just bought the series on DVD from Amazon and we've watched the first three episodes. You're right, Jim Hutton is great in this role, as are David Wayne (Ins. Queen), John Hillerman (Brimmer) and Tom Reese (Sgt. Velie).
The show had such great guest stars on too. All very talented stars, and it's fun to see the 1940's clothes and sets.
We have no idea how Queen solves these cases but they're so enjoyable to watch.
