Odessa File compared to 8mm

does anyone agree that the odessa file ressembles very strongly to 8mm with nicolas cage? in both films the main character goes deeper and deeper in an investigation in a social class he really doesnt belong too? and there is of course in both films this final confrontation with the very bad guy... and the dispute between the hero and his wife/girlfriend about him being in danger. (by the way: they both say: i might not be here when you are back). does anyone agree?

I think it might be better phrased, "8mm strongly resembles the Odessa File", since of course, one was about 20 years before the other.
But I would concur that the themes are similar.

Or have you considered the similarities to The Parallax View?

Reporter goes undercover to investigate a political assassination. Great cinematography, great performances all around, very intense "indoctrination" scene.

I agree with the top user comment: the 70's was a goldmine of great suspense flicks. Both The Odessa File and The Parallax View are excellent examples.

Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances.
