German music
What was the name of the song that they were singing when Jon Voight gets booted out of the rally? i have heard it in many different war movies and documentaries. Is it a Nazi song, or just a generic german drinking tune.

shareIt's hard to follow the words, and most of it are just "lalala's" and "hahaha's", but I think it's definetly a drinking tune. There's no reference to germany, or the fatherland or that kind of thing. Peter wouldn't have joined the singing and known the words if it were a nazi-song either, I'd think...
Huddie
I think you speak of "Schwarzbraun ist die Haselnuss", which is an old German "Volkslied".
The most common version of this song is interpreted by "Heino", a famous singer in Germany.
Which in English means..Dark brown is the hazelnut:)
shareblack brown is the hazelnut ;-)
shareCan anyone tell me the English lyrics?I enjoyed the song-catchy tune.
shareSchwarzbraun ist die Haselnuß
Schwarzbraun bin auch ich
Schwarzbraun muß mein Madel sein
Gerade so wie ich.
Duvi du duvi duvi di ha ha ha
Duvi du duvi duvi di ha ha ha
Duvi du duvi duvi di
Maderl hat mir Busserl geba
Hot mi schwer gekränkt
Hab 'rs wieder z'rück gegeb'n
I' will jo nix geschenkt.
Duvi du duvi duvi di . . .
Maderl hat nicht Hof noch Haus
Maderl hat kein Geld
Doch ich geb sie nicht heraus
Für alles in der Welt.
Duvi du duvi duvi di . . .
Kernig ist die Haselnuß,
Kernig bin auch ich.
Wenn ich eine heiraten tu,
So muß sie sein wie ich.
Duvi du duvi duvi di . .
Refrain:
Juvi du, juvi, juvi du, juvidu ... Juvi you juvi, juvi you juvidu ...
Strophen: Stanzas:
Schwarzbraun ist die Haselnuss, Black-brown is the hazelnut,
schwarzbraun bin auch ich, ja bin auch ich, dark brown, I am, yes I am,
schwarzbraun muss mein Mädel sein - Black Brown must be my girl -
gerade so wie du. just like you
S´ Maderl hat mir Busserl geben, S 'Maderl has to give me hugs,
hat mich schwer gekränkt, schwer gekränkt! I was deeply hurt, deeply hurt!
Hab 's ihr aber wieder gegeben - 've Got her back but given -
ich will ja nichts geschenkt. I will indeed given anything.
S´ Maderl hat nicht Hof noch Haus, S 'Maderl has not yet home or house
Maderl hat kein Geld, hat kein Geld. Maderl has no money, has no money.
Doch ich geb sie nicht heraus - But I do not give (her) up -
Für alles in der Welt. For everything in the world!
Pithy is the hazelnut
pithy to am I am I, also I
???
There is another german verse sometimes, not sure what it means:
Rammlig ist mein Ziegenbock,
rammlig bin auch ich, ja bin auch ich.
Rammlig muss mein Madel sein
gerade so wie ich.
That one verse actually says:
The girl gave me a kiss
And hurt me deeply
But I gave it back to her [meaning he's had payback]
I don't want anything for free
And the "other verse" .. rammeln is a word for you know what. His goat is horny, he is horny, and his girl has to be horny.
To get some idea of the music, the album appears on a site called mp3pe, it is also called mp3xx. with free previews of it with no log ins
The album seems to have THREE Odessa marches, along with the incidental and theme music.
Along with schwarzbraun ist die haselnuss
The march is played as the original theme, then a classical piece (quite nice). Finally the beerhall band play it... with singing. So it must be a traditional piece from somewhere. It starts off with what sound like 'geigen tag'??, then its difficult to make out the rest, but from my feeble German it defiantly sounds like a traditional German patriotic piece. Not 33-45
BUT WHAT IS ITS NAME??
Sorry but im not putting the direct link down as some get upset with that.
