Music?
What is the song/music playing in the scene where the actress says she's going to teach him how to dance?
shareWhat is the song/music playing in the scene where the actress says she's going to teach him how to dance?
shareI'm pretty sure it's the Django Reinhardt tune, "Nuages." I'm not 100%. I know "Nuages" plays during that scene at some point.
shareThank you for your response. I know later there's some Django as there's quite a bit of it during the film. I know I should have been more specific. It's at the very beginning of the scene and it's some French lady singing. It's too bad they don't list all the music!
shareI haven't seen this movie yet (although I plan to now that it's on DVD)but I am going to take a wild guess and say that it's probably Edith Piaf.
sharewhat about the music france is playing on the piano and his father says that this music is the soundtrack for his life?
sharemoonlight sonata by beethoven i think
shareIs that the same song that Jean Bonnet (Kippelstein) plays in Au Revoir Les Enfants (another film by Louis Malle)?
shareNo. I didn't recognize the piece Bonnet played in Au Revoir Les Enfants, but it wasn't Moonlight Sonata. Earlier in this film, though, France is practicing playing a different section of Moonlight Sonata (third movement). I think it's the scene where Lucien comes to pick up his suit.
shareSo, you're guessing about a piece of music in a film you've never seen?
It 'aint Piaf.
It's "Mademoiselle Swing" by Irène de Trébert.
sharewhat about the flute music at the end?
shareThis was a piece of Bengali flute music that Malle recorded while making his documentary L'Inde Fantome. I don't think this piece made it into the documentary, but he and his sound man (Jean-Claude Laureux?) tracked it down to use in Lacombe Lucien.
