Some help would be appreciated....

Many years ago, I saw a film about a killer baby. I always thought it was one of the "It's Alive" films, but, now that I've seen them, I know it is not.
I remember that it looked kind of low budget, and that most of the film took place in a house. A lot of the film was shown from the baby's point of view. The mother loved the baby, but was also afraid of it. She left the baby with a babysitter, and the baby wound up killing the sitter.

That's about all I remember. I know it's not much to go on, but any help would be appreciated. I kind of remember liking the movie, and I remember it being a bit bloody.

If anyone can steer me in the right direction, let me know.

You`re thinking of "The Unborn".

reply

No, not that at all. I own that film and watched it within the last year or so. Definitely not it.

reply

Sewage Baby, I've never seen it but someone on this board said it was some what like this

I don't think it's that. I own that film, but have never watched it. But the plot, along with reviews of it I've read and pictures I've seen of it would suggest it is not the film I'm remembering. I mean, for one, doesn't baby get disposed of in "Sewage Baby," hence the title? Whereas, in the film I'm talking about, the baby is cared for by the mother, who then hires a babysitter. Not quite the same.

And I can almost definitely say it is also not "The Baby" as that involved a man dressed as a baby.

reply

I know I said it definitely was not "The Unborn" but I will not say for sure that it wasn't "The Unborn II"
I'll leave that open as a possibility.

i am having the same problem, i think i know what you are talking about the father doesn't believe anything is wrong with the child but mother is step out to find out what is wrong with her daughter, i know it is a late 80s or early 90s, i am trying to figure it out cause the new movie the Orphan is a lot like it

To the OP, are you thinking of Eraserhead? Probably not but it's the first thing that came to mind. I did a plot search using 'mutant baby' as the keyword---there's something called That Little Monster from 1994 about a babysitter and a homicidal baby.
Punk-Star, are you thinking of The Omen IV? Or, if it's actually more recent, First Born?

reply

Definitely not Eraserhead. Though I own two copies of that film, I've actually never seen it. I have heard of That Little Monster and have had it in my queue for some time. The plot does sound similar, but I keep reading things about it being in black and white. If that is the case, it is definitely not what I'm looking for. However, I thank you for your suggesiton. I will check it out.

sounds like The Monster starring Joan Collins, Aka. I Didn't Wan't To Be Born

I don't think it was that, as I had an old issue of Fangoria that talked about that film. So I would think I would've known it was that film. However, it did go under quite a few titles (in Fangoria, it was "The Devil Within Her"), one of which was "It Lives Within Her" which would explain why I thought it was one of the "It's Alive" movies. I'll have to look into this. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think it may be "The Brood," from 1979, directed by David Cronenberg.

I do hope that someone somewhere can find out for definite which film this indeed is.

reply

Definitely not the Brood. Good movie, but not the one I'm looking for. Thanks for trying.

Basket Case, maybe?

reply

Good one...probably.

Now Playing: Lost, Season 5

reply

I've seen two of the Basket Case movies, the first and one of the sequels, and I own all three. Definitely not one of those. But thanks for your suggestion.

Killer baby.

The Baby (1973):

It's definitely not that one! I've seen it a number of times, and there's no mutant baby~just an unfortunate young man. It IS a very quirky film.

In fact, it just started on TCM. It has an ending I doubt that anyone could guess.
