Awful movie, not even campy

It's Alive is such an awful movie. It's not even one of those fun and campy scary movies, it just plain sucks. The story, acting, directing, pacing, and everything else about it is boring and worthless. The father character is such an annoying dick. I kept waiting for him to get killed off. Why make such a nerve grating character if you don't kill him eventually?

This is certainly one of the most useless movies ever made. Nothing in it is good or bad enough to warrant any interest.

It's Alive = 0 stars

What a piece of crap?!?!?!?!?

I think the "Alive" movies are pretty goofy too, but many people think that if they have a redeeming quality, it's the acting of John Ryan, who played Frank Davis (the father) and died a few months ago.

You, my friend, are a douche, for trolling around cult films and calling them ish because you want a reaction. Can't get a reaction from the gals at the club? Try penis enhancers.

This is a great movie for people who like this sort of schlock, so if you don't, then go watch the next Ring or Hostel. Leave us alone. Good bye.

Considering you bashed Aguirre, Night of the Hunter, and Rear Window it is at least in good company.

reply

Rear Window is a bit over-rated, but he bashed Aguirre and Night of the Hunter?
I will stop using him as my sole arbiter on what is good or not then.

reply

Rear window is far from over rated. Judging by the other films you mentioned you should't even be allowed to watch a movie of Rear Window's quality.

I watch it cuz I love unknown 70's movies. Its not boring, it just has a relaxing pace to it unlike the "shove it down your throat" crap nowadays. The movie is just not for adrenaline junkies thats what I say. As for "worthless", dude come on. Some elements of the story make little sense, the endings messy but the dialogue is straight forward and the actings fair. It really isnt all that cheesy and it IS bad movie entertainment, it isn't an in-between plateau.

reply

Sure is different.

Actually, I do think it's campy. Totally. I was laughing often.

I agree it is awful and I'm a B Movie Horror fan.The sequels are awfull also.

I have to say that I didn't care for it as an adult, and I like lots of different kinds of films. When I was a teen it was kind of fun.

I could not agree more. And I don't think the OP was trolling, although who knows I can't say for sure. But seriously, this is just not good. Even one of this film's defenders above called it 'schlock' - OK, do you know what the definition of schlock is? Let me help you - 'cheap or inferior goods or material; trash.'

So yes, that's what this is. And it's ok if you are into that sort of thing, to each his own. You want to call it a 'guilty pleasure,' I'm fine with that. But please don't call it great or even good, because, wow, it's so not. From multiple angles...the seriously fake blood, the quick jumping to the conclusion that we had a mutant baby on our hands (as someone pointed out, it could have been a rabid animal or a wolverine or something....but no, let's go with something we've never heard of until now, a mutant baby!)...the baby is able to traverse the sewer system...ok, it's one thing to say it was born with physical mutations, but now we are adding in a level of intelligence as well. The cops giving the father a rifle and letting him be the executioner....what? Since when do modern cops deputize civilians. I think not. And the climax was purely laughable....the father out-and-out threw the mutant baby at the man in the suit. The baby kills him. And then the police take the father home as if it was just an accident. Holy what the heck did I just watch? That was just not good.

I did not see this film as a kid and therefore have no fond memories of it, or of being scared. It is not scary now watching it for the first time as an adult. And it's not good either. It's about on the level with "The Brain That Wouldn't Die," which was also serious schlock. 3/10.

Yes, I absolutely agree.
