I vaguely remember the fashion industry trying to interest people in 20's style fashions when the movie came out. I don't think they were terribly successful.
"Annie Hall" probably sold more new fashion than "Gatsby."
I remember two movies with Warren Beatty, the Bonnie and Clyde look and the Dick Tracey look.

shareI still have my Russian-style fur hat (made with synthetic fur, even, so it still looks brand-new fifty years later) that I asked for as a Christmas present in the '60s, 'cause they were briefly in style after "Dr. Zhivago" came out.
I was a teenager and, oddly enough, never actually saw the movie until many years later.
