He was a NAVY SEAL I think that is what he mentions when he's out west with that cowboy dude. Can anyone confirm?

ummmm no, first off he fought in the Korean War (Navy SEALS were created during the Vietnam War in 1962 before that they were simply called Navy Demolitions and primarily did just that) what he said was he was a conscientious objector during Korea and joined the medical corps as a medic

That would be incorrect. His character was a conscientious objector who had served in a U.S. Army medical unit during the Korean War.

You just misunderstood when he said he was a "CO", short for conscientious objector. The other guy thought he was a "commanding officer", also abbreviated as a "CO".

I'm the same as kersey. I'm a CO with a 4F rating.

IMDB as of late, sold out and became like City Data and about.com, worthless bureaucrats.
