The most incredible line in the movie?

I'm not sure if this was intentional - it would be nice to know if it were - but at the party Moran says something that is absolutely mind blowing. He brags about how "12 years ago" he bugged one of the Presidential candidates and may have decided the election. He apparently is talking about the 1960 election which was a very close election. The two main candidates were John Kennedy and... oh what was his name... Richard... Richard?... oh yea, Richard Nixon. It probably was deliberate, since the movie would have been made in late 1973, when Watergate was in full swing. I wonder how many people make the connection.

I'd assumed that everybody had made the connection. But I did see it in the early 80s when it was still a little fresh in people's consciousness.

I was wondering about that too.

Your math doesn't add up, Abner. Even if the movie was made in late 1973, 12 years earlier would be 1961. Kennedy would have already been nearly a year into his term in office. The 1960 election would have been in November of '60, so it would have to be "13 years ago," for a late 1973 production date, 14 years ago if made in '74.
