shareIt is quite strange watching the movie knowing that Polanski would go on to commit a crime similar to Noah Cross' and reinforce his film's point about evil men, being powerful, can get away with their sins. He's right in the film, but it's strange that he could/would make that point in a movie and either not see it in his own life or not care. He directed this film knowing Noah Cross was a villain and a monster, why become one himself?

Chinatown is one of the greatest films of the modern era, regardless of how sick the director eventually became; and, not to excuse his crime, but if your pregnant wife had been stabbed to death by a group of wasted, mindless, stupid, smelly hippies, you'd probably end up a little sick as well.
