Polanski is a pedophile don't watch this film

or i will kill your sorry asses

"I don't trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die"

reply

You are right! H is a pedophile. I don't understand how people deny it. Look up Roman Polansky ond Google and you'll see his bio.

reply

Polanski’s not a pedophile. He’s a hebephile.

reply

You're missing a good movie.

reply

You know you can like a movie yet despise the people who worked on it as people.

I guess the entire Michael Jackson chronology needs to be burned and forgotten by this logic.

reply

Despite that Roman is a pedo. Ive seen this movie more than once and plan to see it again.

reply

Caravaggio killed a man. Should his paintings be banned from museums?

reply

Caravaggio isn't collecting royalties.

reply

Watch Polanski's film in such a way that he doesn't get royalties either and that particular issue is solved. Buy a used DVD at a thrift store, for instance. At some point (100 years from now, say) Polanski or his decedents will no longer be gaining royalties either, just as Caravaggio's aren't. But that won't be for quite a long time, so it's something you need to decide how you're going to handle. In the VERY LONG run, however, it's clear there is very little an artist can do that is bad enough to warrant banning their art. If the murders of Gesualdo and Caravaggio can be looked past due to the work they left behind, then I think it's safe to say Polanski's rape will also be hand-waved... at some point in the future, when he is dead like they are, though.

reply

If I had any interest in seeing Polanski's films, that's what I'd do.

But I've rather lost my taste for serious dramatic films, as real life is offering so much serious drama for free, but that's not the only problem. The fact is that one's feelings about an artist can interfere with the "willibg suspension of disbelief" needed to really enjoy a movie or other form of entertainment. That's why, for instance, some opera fans don't want to see the works of Richard Wagner, who was an anti-semite and who has a posthumous association with the Nazis. Wagner is long dead and hasn't collected royalties for over a century, but some people still don't want to see the art.

reply

Woody Allen is another questionable director.

reply

I was kind of on the fence about Allen. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

Then I was watching this documentary about Jeffrey Epstein and learned that Allen went to Epstein's party in NY celebrating his release from prison. Damn. I can't help but think "birds of a feather".

reply

There was never even a "case" against Woody Allen. There was an extensive investigation by police detectives, child psychologists, and medical doctors, which came up with nothing. Their conclusion was that the child had not been molested, was lying, and had probably been coached to lie by her mother.

reply

The case against Allen is pretty flimsy. Polanski pled guilty.

That said, I still love Chinatown. Polanski's an evil dink, but he's made some incredible cinema.

reply

Yup

reply

Polanski is awful.

Goddamn, he made some good movies though.

reply

Whoopi Goldberg said it wasn't rape rape. Just regular rape.

reply

She meant it was statutory but consensual, but that's not what I heard, I heard he drugged her

reply

He drugged her because he knew that was the only way she was going to allow him to do the particular sex act he wanted to do with her without resorting to a violent beating. Then he turned around said he didn't really rape her because it wasn't violent.
