Political Correctness...
...is so bad, that there is no way Blazing Saddles could be made today. That's so sad to me bc it's one of the best films ever.

shareHe could absolutely get away with making this movie today. If Tarantino can make Django, there's no way Brooks can't make Blazing Saddles.

I think there are very different standards for gritty dramas as there are for comedies. Comedies are aimed at families.
In any case, read some of the history of this movie. Mel had to deceive the executives at Warner Brothers as to the extent of shocking humor in it. When they saw the final cut, they wanted to take a loss and destroy the movie. Had they known what it would be, they never would have allowed it to be made.
Fortunately for the world, based on Mel's reputation, they allowed the movie to be screened at a few theaters and, to their horror, the audiences loved it. Greed won out over political correctness and the movie was widely released and became a hit.
It could never be made today.

shareThere seem to just be a rising population of 'liberals' who don't know what they stand for anymore and just get offended as an answer to anything that doesn't recognize every human as a beautiful unique snowflake.
But yeah, I don't think the same film could be made as it is, and if it was, there would be an upset group of white people slamming it because of its content, with no real understanding of freedom of speech or satire.
The night is dark and full of terrors

How prophetic was this post?
shareThis movie is all about liberals making fun of racist conservative rednecks ... they did it because it's so easy to laugh at dumb inbred conservatives.

Which is funny considering how racist and hypocritical and hate-filled liberal are.
No wonder you're so deluded when you get your news from FAUX News.

I know that you will be too retarded to understand this, but feeling you have to make an insulting comment in a thread where you haven't been involved in for over a year, after having already been a jak off to someone = stalking + having a pathetic life.
shareI didn't feel i had to. I felt I wanted to because I love seeing the little vein in your head pulse.

Thanks for admitting you are stalking me.
You really are to stupid to understand that, aren't you?
I'm replying to you on a publicly available internet board.
I'm replying to you on the only board I've ever replied to you before on.
That is not stalking.
Your anger management issues are a different problem

I'm not angry at all. You are the moron who replied after no reply for over a year.
It is a shame that your life is so pathetic that you have to stalk me.
Here, I'll help you out. I'll make more time for you to do other things than stalk me.
Buh-bye, sh!t stain.
Apologies. Forgot that you are such a special snow flake that people replying to you on a thread causes such upset.
I won't do it again.

Any time someone said they didn't like 0bama's policies they were labeled a racist.
On the other hand, Dr. Ben Carson and any other Conservative black people are called "Uncle Tom's" by liberals.
Just one, HUGE example.

Such as?
So is it racist to criticize a black politician or is it not racist to criticize a black politician?

Okay so given this article's rather strict definition of racism, where is this "Liberal Racism' spoken of by the above poster?

For instance - you are moving the goal posts.
You are free to google people being called racist for criticizing 0bama - there a multitude of articles about it. Feel free to cr&p on any of them you choose, because you simply don't believe it to be true.
Same thing with the "Uncle Tom" comments.
So is it racist to criticize a black politician or is it not racist to criticize a black politician?
"For instance - you are moving the goal posts."
How is that, moving the goalposts?
"I mean, that is about as stupid as the question you asked."
You said liberals were racist, I asked for examples. Are either of the examples you cited instances of racism?

There seem to just be a rising population of 'liberals' who don't know what they stand for anymore and just get offended as an answer to anythingGeorge Carlin said it best: "If you don't like it, there are two controls, one of them changes the channel (or the station) and the other turns it off. If liberals think a movie is racist, don't watch it, or if you do get offended maybe say so in the review, but don't try to get the gummint to censor it. Same thing to conservatives: if you think a movie has too much nudity or cussing (they never have anything to say about violence), then same thing.
"If liberals think a movie is racist, don't watch it, or if you do get offended maybe say so in the review, but don't try to get the gummint to censor it."
And when have liberals ever tried to get the "gummint" to censor something they claimed was racist? Last time I checked, you can still purchase Mein Kampf in any book store.

"And when have liberals ever tried to get the "gummint" to censor something they claimed was racist?"
It's not the conservatives who put the pressure on commercial radio stations to remove certain "offensive" words from songs that previously were not censored. "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits, for example.
"Sie sagan diese katze Shaft ist eine schlechte Mutterficker!"
Exactly. It isn't Conservatives who try to get books like Huck Finn & To Kill a Mockingbird banned because of the "N-word" used in the books.
share"But yeah, I don't think the same film could be made as it is, and if it was, there would be an upset group of white people slamming it because of its content, with no real understanding of freedom of speech or satire."
Spoken like someone who understands neither.

That's why we have had names for them in the past. "Dumbasses" is the most popular. "Cause Heads" was an older version of what some of them are called today: "Social Justice Warriors." Social Justice my ass. "The Mob" also works (not the mafia mob, but the kind that does lynchings). Another good name for them is "whiner babies," and "party poopers." "Attention whores" also works. If you want to make them angry, call them an NPC.
They really can't take a joke unless it's at their supposed "enemies'" expense.
Comedy is strongly linked to culture. Our culture today is not the same as it was forty years ago, so the "same movie" would not be the same movie today. I think an earlier poster may have been correct in writing that "Django Unchained" is the modern equivalent of "Blazing Saddles."
Why are you sad? Blazing Saddles exists, it has been made.
Ever tried. Ever failed. No Matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better
I bought it mainly for the same reason anybody buys any DVD but also in fear of it being taken off the market. Song Of The South for example has never been published in America.
