Like many, I've been searching high and low, and I finally found a commercially available release sold at CD Japan (for those of you with multiregion players). I've not watched it yet (can't wait, but I've been busy), but it is said to have been remastered in hi-def (?). It was released under the title "Diabolica," has a nice cover, is widescreen, etc. Seems like a solid commercial release. It took a chunk o' change to get (about $35) straight from Japan, but arrived in tip-top shape. Check it out--just make sure you do the search for "Diabolica" and not the slew of other titles this flick is known by-- www.cdjapan.co.jp

Also, there's a relatively favorable review of this Japanese DVD at "Steven MacDiarmid's Hi-Def Horror" review site...

What's the URL on the "Hi-Def Horror" site?

I can't seem to find the Hi-Def horror site anymore and didn't bookmark it...but I do see that Xploited Cinema, http://www.xploitedcinema.com, and Sazuma, www.sazuma.com, have started selling the Japanese DVD of Beyond the Door as Diabolica (same one I bought through CDJapan).

BTW, I did finally get to watch it, and it is a very nice widescreen transfer. The flick is in the best shape I've ever seen it. What a wonderfully bizarre film stuck in the glorious 70s. But beware: The Xploited price is $40. Ouch!
