Possess-O-Sound

When the movie came out, I am almost sure it was promoted as being in "Possess-o-Sound", which as I recall, was not a all that exciting. Basically there was a big speaker in each corner of the theater. Ooooo. However, despite a few references to it on the web, i can NOT find any other evidence to back this up. It's not mentioned on any of the trailers I've fouund, not on the posters I could find. There are scant newspaper scans online and NONE of them mention "Possess-O-Sound". But I am fairly sure I did NOT imagine it.

Can anyone point me in a direction to photos, clippings, press kit info etc on this, PLEASE! I'm a big fan of movie gimmicks and I just want to back this up.

THANK YOU!

There's a UK quad poster (with the title "Devil Within Her") that promotes a process called "Vibrasound." The text reads "The ultimate in audience involvement! You will definitely quiver with fright!"

AWESOME!!!! Thank you so much for posting that!

You definitely did not imagine it.
Ads in the Los Angeles Times for the initial release mentioned "Quadraphonic Possessound".

I later assumed this to be just a gimmicky rename of standard magnetic 4-track stereo, but if there were actually custom speaker setups involved (as with Damnation Alley's Sound 360), then there might be something more to this.

Hey, I'm a little late (by 2 years) seeing this, but THANK YOU for responding. I knew I hadn't imagined this.

Now that you mention it, I also remember "Damnation Alley"'s Sound 360 promotion. I saw that in the theater...but don't remember any added speakers in the auditorium. I got ripped off. Ha!

CHEERS!
