I was suprised at how funky the soundtrack is
Pure, 70's shaft like funk like isac hayes. I loved it.

shareNormally I wouldn't like that type of music in a horror movie; but in this case, it just suited the film perfectly.
Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.
The soundtrack is super-tasty and is available on CD. One of the best funky Franco Micalizzi soundtracks ever or for that matter simply one of the best Micalizzi soundtracks period. Completely listenable outside of the context of the film which to be honest I've never seen. Just a fan of old funky soundtracks and happened to be surfing the boards.
shareMy favorite song on the soundtrack was that one song that played during that ritual scene at the beginning where the girl lied naked on the pentagram; the one where it sounded a little bit like you could hear a demon breathing in the background.
Death lives in the Vault of Horror!
Absolutely! An incredible, haunting, idiosyncratic score by Franco Micalizzi. Matches every scene flawlessly. The standalone soundtrack is very much worth owning.
shareAlso the music was overseen by Danny Weis (as Danny Weiss) who was the original lead guitarist for Iron Butterfly and went on to Rhinoceros.
