Does this scene come from this movie??

In an old south park episode, Stan gets a goldfish that kills people. When his mom comes in and sees the bodies, she thinks he did it and starts talking to herself. She says stuff like "my boy's such a good boy, such a handsome boy" and buries the body. Do those lines or her actions come from this movie?

That plot and those lines seemed familiar and this movie was suggested by someone on the South Park board. It doesn't seem right to me though. Anyone recall this??

Thanks,

I'm not sure if that was from this particular film. I think South Park was just ridiculing general horror flicks and what mothers would likely do in that situation (i.e., denial).

There is a cartoon episode that draws pretty liberally from this flick: The Simpsons. In one notable "Treehouse of Horror" episode, there is someone living in the walls of the Simpson house. It's probably one that you remember, if you watch the show regularly.

Yeah in one they had Bart's evil twin chained upstairs eating fish heads and he snuck around the house. Is that the one?

reply

That's the one.

There is another late 60s/early 70s thriller with a similar scenario. A couple moves into a house and there is a psychologically/mentally challenged person chained to a bed upstairs or in the attic, who eventually gets out of the chains and maneuvers around and kills. Very creepy movie just for that, but also for some very strange locals in the New England setting. I saw this as a kid and had nightmares, the only movie that's ever done that to me. It's called The Shuttered Room, and stars Gig Young and Carol Lynley.

I love the Shuttered Room, too. I believe the woman chained upstairs was Carol Lynley's crazy twin sister. The old mill burns down at the end.

Hey, Carol Lynley back in the '60's was a hottie! I'll have to look for The Shuttered Room - was it made for tv or a real movie? Think it's been re-released EVER? I've never heard of it, but my favorite Carol Lynley film that I saw as a kid in the '70's was 'Once You Kiss a Stranger' - one of her better films! Check it out, if you can find it! Hot hot hot! Of course, she plays a murderess, but still....hot!
