Is it me or is the clip of the movie we see Sid Caesar and Myrna Loy watching from American Graffiti? It's shows a Mel's Diner and a cop car losing it's back wheels when they take off. I seem to remember that from AG.

The passengers on the plane would know that it was competing against The Exorcist for Best Picture, which starred Linda Blair, who also plays the kidney girl in Airport '75. So, doesn't the movie nullify itself by default??
