The captain was horribly injured and spent the rest of the movie with a bloody face. It didn't show him die. At the end, Karen & Charlton walked out of the plane using stairs, and everybody else went down a sliding board. It didn't say or show what happened to the captain. Does anybody know what happened to him?

shareI'll have to disagree with you somewhat, rorysa. I'm not a pilot, but I've had about 10-20 hours of casual flight instruction in light, single engine aircraft spread out over a period of ~30 years, and have flown about 60,000 miles as a passenger.
This type of scenario seems more plausible that George Kennedy(Patroni) going from aircraft mechanic and a VP to a full captain of a Concorde in Airport 1979.
The mid-air collision in Airport 1975 occurred at ~11,000 in breathable air and not much decompression problems.
