Been watching this film a couple of times, but still cannot figure out the flight's name when Alan asks Nancy about which flight she is on.

"the... special", what does she say?

"...the red eye special."
Columbia Flight 409 from Dulles to LAX

this is my favorite movie, so I should know this.

Also note that "red-eyes" only go west to east. For example, leave LAX at 2205 arrive ATL at 0515. As much as I love Karen Black and her alter ego, Nancy Pryor, Columbia 409 was not a red-eye. Red-eyes do NOT go west!

Nancy (Karen Black's character) says "The red-eye special". A "red-eye" flight is any flight departing late at night, and arriving early the next morning.
