A little too high with the flying.

As a kid I never really noticed, but as an adult I wonder why Capt. Marvel was above the clouds when he had to make a rescue that was less than a couple of miles away at the most. Quite often he was diving in at 30,000 ft. He never learned how to hover? Just a thought.

Doing new special hover effects each week probably would of blown the low budget, but yes, I agree, he flew too high and it looked silly!

I think it was the 1st season episode Delinquent, the kid tipped over in his canoe about 50 or 60 yards away from Billy. He changed into Captain Marvel and he still flew into the clouds before he splashed into the water to save the kid.

In the Bostwick era, they attached him to the front of a moving platform and shot him from the side, looking for all the world like he was flying just above the level of the road. They never did that with Davey, just using stupid green screens with all the fuzziness around the edges.I guess he was so bulky/heavy they couldn't use the rig that Bostwick used.
