Did the original series ever jump the shark. I think it went on for 5.5 seasons before Garner was too ill to continue. Most shows fizzle out at the end, especially around season 4 or 5, but this show might be an outlier.
Your thoughts?
I'd say "no" to jumping the shark also. I actually think it got better as the seasons went along.
shareIt definitely helped that Stephen J. Cannel was involved -- he's was a good book author, too, and I think the fact that the show stuck to its PI-solves-a-case weekly narrative helped keep some level of novelty going.
It also helped that the show didn't get too stuck in the details of Rockford's day-day life.
