sure gave Rockford a quick hook in their lineup. They still show Kojak which ran for less seasons than the Files. They must use monkeys throwing darts to choose a schedule.

shareWhen it left a couple of months ago they said it was on vacation/break.
They do a good job as far as cutting out the least amount of footage as possible, unlike most stations. TVLand chopped the sh!t out of it.
shareTVland is brutal with commercials. Garner was on the Tonight Show with Carson they show on Antenna TV and he was saying what a grind it was doing The Rockford Files but was worth it when they sent him the check for it. A LOT of commercials on Carson.
shareThe show was taking a toll on him by season six, which was why many of those episodes were so talky. They were trying to give him a break, but they had to cut the season short anyway due to Garner needing medical attention over it, which led to the cancellation.
They should change the name of TVLand to CommercialLand.
You could tell Garner knees were really hurting by his gait anytime he had to run it hurt just watching him. Maybe it was for the best it ended the show was not meant to dialogue driven it was about Jims caginess as a P.I. and doing J-turns in his Firebird.
shareThe two season six two-partners are 95% yapping, as is the worst episode filmed, "Love is the Word".
shareHe had numerous surgeries on both of his knees and ever so manly he worked right through the pain. Nowadays these actors/Actresses are nothing but a bunch of pussies! I read somewhere that while James Garner had surgery in his time off from shooting rockford files, the executives decided to start shooting the season a month early and they told James Garner that if he doesn't show up then they'll just cancel the show.now thatsF ucked up!
shareI read his book awhile back, I believe it had more to do with money. He took less salary and was suppose to be paid on the back end, and the powers that be said it made no money, even though it was being shown around the world. Garner took them to court over it.
