What episode does Rhoda divorce Joe?
First why did they decide to have the two get divorced? I missed much of the rest of the seasons. And what eppy was it?

shareThey separated in the very beginning (first episode?) of season 3. Joe stayed on the show for season 3, but Rhoda and Joe lived apart, with Rhoda moving into a new apartment. Their divorce eventually became final in season 4, I believe, but Joe was not on the show after season 3.
They decided to separate because Joe felt "pressured" in marriage, or something ridiculous like that. I don't know. He was being a real jerk to Rhoda, and even though Rhoda didn't want to separate, they separated so that Joe could have "time to himself" (AKA: go out with other girls). She kept hoping they would get back together, but he kept saying he needed more time, and they never got back together. Eventually, the divorce was finalized.
Not being a fan of Joe in the first place, I was happy to see Rhoda start a new life without him. It kind of became more like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, with Rhoda becoming the Mary-esque character and Brenda becoming the Rhoda-esque character. Rhoda and Brenda met their annoying neighbor Gary, who they later became good friends with (after he stopped hitting on them). Rhoda got a new job in a costume shop, working for Jack Doyle. Ida and Martin went on a "vacation" during all of season 3 while Nancy Walker was working on some other show. They returned in season 4. Brenda got a new boyfriend named Benny Goodwin, who was nerdy and socially awkward, but lovable. Rhoda has an admirer in Johnny Venture, a singer who she finds repulsive, but he refuses to leave her alone. Rhoda and Brenda become friends with Sally Gallagher, but she later disappears without explanation. And, of course, Carlton remained the same.
Hope this is of some help to you!
