I was just watching a 1971 episode of 'MTM', in which Ida visits Rhoda for a week. Ida makes mention of her two other children - Arnold and Brenda - in the beginning of the show. At the end, Ida mentions she's leaving Minneapolis, and going to visit Rhoda's sister who lives in Chicago.
Wow - this was all forgotten a few years later when Rhoda moved back to NYC.

Yesterday I watched an episode of MTM in which Mary's parents came to live in Minneapolis, right around the corner from Mary. When she is discussing this with Rhoda, Rhoda told her how every time she moved in Manhattan, her parents would move with her - always in the apartment building next door to hers or the one across the street - always on the same block as hers. After three moves in Manhattan, with her parents trailing her, she finally moved out West to Minneapolis so her parents wouldn't follow.
Later on in her own series "Rhoda", we learn that she moved once from her childhood home at the age of 23, and that was the big move to Minneapolis; she never moved out of her parent's apartment before that. We also learn that her parent's apartment is the same one they lived in since they were married....they never moved out of it in nearly 40 years.
