Funniest Moments From the Show

There are two that come to mind right off the top of my head, although there are definitly many, many funny moments:

--In the episode "A Night in the Emergency Room", the part where Rhoda, with a potentially broken foot, asks Brenda to hand her her purse so she can pay for the x-rays and Brenda realizes that she left Rhoda's purse at home but brought Nick's accordian and she is going on and on about how dumb she was to do that, Rhoda, with a deadpan expression that is priceless says, "Not really, Brenda. You never know when we may get the urge to polka..."I laugh out loud at that one.

--In the episode "Johnny's Solo Flight" the part where Johnny Venture, after wandering around Manhattan all night because he is depressed about an agent signing his back up singers but not him, is spiliing his guts to Rhoda:

Johnny: "And I'll tell you something that I've never told anyone, Rhoda. Johnny Venture is not my real name."

Rhoda: "Well, of course I knew that, Johnny, who could have such a name? So tell me your real name, huh?"

Johnny: "Naw..naw, I can't, you'll laugh..."

Rhoda: "What? Me, laugh? Hey, you're looking at Rhoda Morgenstern here, how could I laugh at anyone's name? So come on, what is it?"

Johnny: "Ok. My real name is Sidney Venture."

Rhoda stifles laughter, "SIDNEY? Your real name is SIDNEY VENTURE?"

I don't know, there was just something really funny about that conversation to me.

Any others?

Tonight on METV, they aired the episode in which we are introduced to Gary Levy, where she and Brenda first meet him downstairs in the laundry room. One of the funniest episodes of the season....

Brenda and Rhoda fold a set of sheets they removed from a dryer, not knowing the set belongs to Gary:

Gary (to Rhoda): "Thanks for folding my sheets...my round sheets. Have you ever slept in a round bed before?"

Rhoda: "Have you ever slept in a hospital bed?"

Visiting Rhoda's apartment, and undecided in swapping places with her:

Brenda: "Gary, it has a terrace! You said you love the terrace!"

Gary: "Yeah, that's true. I can sunbathe in the nude. It's murder now, hanging out my window."

LOL, I love that episode. I thought of another one. I can't think of the name of the episode, but it's the one from season three where Rhoda and Sally play tennis and then Sally is still at Rhoda's apartment, wearing her short, short little white tennis dress while she waits for Carlton to call her a cab to take her home. Meanwhile, Johnny Venture, Nick Lobo, and Brenda come by because they and Rhoda are all going out that night.

Sally: "Oh, gee, look at that rain. I bet there isn't an available cab in the entire city right now!"

Johnny: "Oh, hey, don't worry, you can get a ride with us. We'll drop you off at the hospital."

Sally: "Hospital? Why would I be going to the hospital?"

Johnny, as he eyes her little white tennis dress: "Well, you're a nurse, aren't you?"

They just aired that episdoe the other night as well - both back to back. I loved that exchange (actually, it was Nick Lobo not Johnny Venture saying this to her).

I loved when Johnny Venture made his 'entrance', Rhoda was baffled and speechless (as was Sally and Brenda), and then he had to make his way to the bathroom. Once he left, Rhoda says "That's it - I'm not going!" and sits down. She did it so naturally, and so comically - I couldn't stop laughing. It rang so true.

If you mean you thought it was Nick Lobo saying the part about Sally being a nurse, then I will have to respectfully disagree, because I just watched this one on Youtube yesterday, and it was Johnny. Here's the link, the scene takes place at 14:30:

Also funny from that one was the part in the bar where Johnny is trying to sing "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" interactively with Rhoda and when he wants her to say, "Either" or "Neither" she says things like, "Beat it!", and "Get lost!" She is sooo funny!

One of the funniest moments of the show was when Rhoda sprained her ankle and went to the emergency room. The male nurse asked her if she was on birth control and she asked what that had to do with her leg and the guy said nothing that he was just interested in knowing. I couldn't stop laughing it was so funny.

Sorry about that..I had just watched it and thought it was Nick Lobo. My memory is faaaaading fast!

Another ep I recall had a scene which took place in Rhoda's apartment, and Gary was visiting. He had a problem with his new pair of jeans (which I think he had custom made to sell in his store) - the buttons kept popping off every time he sat or stood up. I could not stop laughing at something so stupid like this - probably because it rang so realistic!

LOL, it's no big deal , I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it, it really doesn't matter. My memory isn't so good anymore either, but I'm glad I'm old enough to remember when "Rhoda" was new. These kids today missed out on a lot! (Assuming you are older like me).

Notice the theme about the men on this show: we you act too assertive/needy,it diminishes your desirability.
It's true of real life.
If Ventura and Levi were quite and mysterious, the ladies would have a different perception of them

Rhoda taught Brenda this lesson in her own way in one eps. when dealing with a certain potential date

Funniest Moments From the Show ; Anytime Nick Lobo comes
on and plays that gosh awful accordian and talks the way he does,

Liek the most recent one on ME-TV where he teams up with that horrible
male singer onstage, that Rhoda is supposed to be on a date with.

Classsic bad singing and playing!
