Johnny Johnson

I'm sorry but I can't stand him. It was bad enough when young, dopey Laura had a crush on him, but to devote an entire episode to him was ridiculous.
Since when was Mr. Edwards so close to that moron? He should have allowed that barefoot piece of crap to

walk to Mankato.
Dumb as hell, ugly as sin. Reminds me of Danny Partridge, who I always hated because he was so f'ing ugly.
Willie was right, he looked like a scarecrow in somebody's field.
Miss Mimi should have knocked him over the head with that stupid bluebird hat and put him out of his misery.

I'm beginning to get the impression that you don't like JJ, Dee πŸ˜€

But as you say, leading man material ole JJ wasn't, so it didn't make for a very convincing episode. I think this was one of those deals where ML threw the dude a bone, since they worked together on Bonanza, or at least that seems to make the most sense.

He was actually mentioned in the books, but as usual, the book version and the television version were miles apart. In the books he was just a little kid, as were Mary and Laura, so there was no romantic stuff, and he was blond, and only spoke Norwegian.

I know he was on Bonanza, and this is just my opinion, but I thought he was awful and incredibly boring. I was surprised years ago when I looked this episode up and there were tons of people praising it. I guess I'm more in the minority when it comes to my favorite episodes

I remember he was on Bonanza too. I think the teen magazines at the time tried to make Mitch Vogel, the actor who played him, into a teen heartthrob. πŸ™„πŸ˜³ Don't think it really worked, tho... I met him once when I was a kid at Knotts Berry Farm just shopping & hanging around some stores at the amusement park. Not my type, but he was a real nice guy in person. 😊

I hated Johnny Johnson too. And horsey Laura Ingalls didn't know any better. She ended up marrying a closeted gay man who liked to go to San Francisco bath houses with his lover John Carter. But yeah, Johnny Johnson was annoying. So stupid, so ugly, a fledgling pedophile, so gross. In other words, perfect for horsey and stupid Laura Ingalls who smelled like a dirty horse!!

reply

That's a little harsh. But he was kind of an uggo.
