random musings on LOTL

Love the show, brings back many happy childhood memories. Just picked up the full series dvd set - was a bit disappointed at lack of extras (I don't give a 'fatrat' for the damned will ferrell tripe of a remake!). Silliness, but I love it. Dopey rocks and yes, the sleestaks scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Looking back i'm not sure why I was so scared, especially since I loved all things reptilian as a kid;I think it was their eyes, creepy! I really, really hope this gets a second chance as a film. It may have been campy way back when but I think it's a great concept & still deserves a serious film treatment.I'm wondering if the producers & writers simply got lazy in the 3rd season because all of a sudden Chaka can speak English. Just seems kind of incongrous since he's been speaking only Pakuni the whole series. Oh yeah, one other random thing - what the heck was up with Marshall's hair in this? He looks like a cross between Mike Brady & Englebert Humperdink (that name still makes me chuckle....geesh) - godawful hair - needed a trim. I don't remember seeing people with such horrific hair when I was a kid - but apparently curly & badly styled hair wasn't all that uncommon!

When season three was being made, several other Krofft productions were in the works for the compilation effort "Krofft Supershow", which featured Wonderbug, ElectraWoman and DynaGirl, Dr. Shrinker, among others. This is why LOTL's third season suffered in quality. The Krofft's were busy with other things. It was a project coming up with the Pakuni dialog, so they did away with Ta and Sa and had Cha-Ka speak in Tarzan English. And the 70's was known for its bad hair.
