I know eventually they got together. But did anyone else think the long-running Chachi trying to get together with Joanie, Joanie shoots him down got old really fast? Some things get less funny with time, especially when it wasn't that funny the first time.
Then, later, when she dumped him, he was only dating girls who looked like her. Really?
They were both side characters who got pushed to the forefront due to all the regulars who left and the other regs getting too old ahem the Fonz.
Chachi's way of trying to woo her was always very lame too. When he got older he could have done better than her too and a guy like him would have wanted and done better.
Ending up with her after she repeatedly rejected him doesn't look flattering now. Her original opinion about him should have been respected. Girls had flocked to Fonzie from the start and did like him to begin with regardless of age. Yes Baio was younger but the message was still 'wrong'. Joannie needed to be with somebody she always liked.

It’s a common theme when you hear stories from couples who met in the 40’s-60’s. The woman eventually relents and goes on a date when she decides that he has persevered enough.
If a man tried that now he would be arrested. I agree it doesn’t look flattering for him and it no doubt went from genuine feelings for her and to just being a game after all the rejections.
The Fonz didn’t have to try when it came to women. Cauchi seemed to be lacking if he couldn’t even land Joannie.
Erin looked right for the part when younger but as the show kept going and she got older I bet they wished they had a more attractive version of Joannie.
And I agree she needed something more wholesome like a love at first sight scenario. If I’m not mistaken she never dated asides from a childhood crush on Potsie.
the perm Erin got later on looked horrible....like a scouring pad.
I would have rather had her with Potsie. He did not stalk women. If a girl wasn't interested he just moved on. Much classier. Potsie wan't that goofy after all.
I never liked that hairstyle either.
A relationship with Potsie would have been interesting actually, given the age gap as well as being Richie's buddy.
I agree, they could have styled her hair better. I think Joanie dated a few guys here and there.
