As Fonzie's popularity increased Richie went downhill. By the last season that Ron Howard was a regular he became so annoying.

I know Ritchie was pointless and boring. Even his own family looked annoyed with him.

Richie's nice guy moralizing shtick became redundant when Fonzie became the moralizing nice guy with a leather jacket.

Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.
