Was Richard Benjamin annoying or was James Brolin a douche canoe?

This scene has always stood out to me and I don't know why. Brolin does come off as a strong silent type who has been to Westworld before, where as Richard Benjamin has never been and is full of questions. He ask Brolin several questions while on the ride from Delos, like How much do they weigh? Do they have much of a kick? What about the thing where you do this over the gun? And Brolin responds with a question or just a one word answer. I don't know if its bad acting or what. I do like this movie though.

Sorry I'm 4 months late here, and I haven't seen this in like 20 years, so forgive me, but the scenes you're talking about always stuck with me. Here's my interpretation.

I think Brolin was short because as you said he's been there before, and he's acting like it. You ever been around that kind of guy who has to play it cool when he's been to a strange situation ahead of you, and he could explain everything? I guess I figured this out when I joined the Army. I saw guys act exactly like this. It's kind of a "too cool for school" game they play, I think.

Like when football players score touchdowns or go to the Superbowl and say, "act like you've been there before."

This scene really illustrates that dichotomy between these two male archetypes.

That does make sense to me. Too cool for school. That was him alright. SO about like going on a rollercoaster with your bestfriend who has been on all the rollercoasters and then some vs you as it is your first time. Your worried and got swamp-ass and all nervous while your friend is just chillax as can be. Seems legit.

Brolin did not seem the best kind of guy you want to go on an expensive vacation with.
