Best Sci-Fi Western Ever

Thats really it, Cowboys & Aliens tried it but no. There really isn't any other way to make a good sci fi western, this was the way to do it.

Firefly did it well.

Back to the Future 3.

I think all three films mentioned above were better than Westworld though I don't deny the movie's influence.

The story's good and Michael Crichton has no trouble getting his normal "future technology causing trouble" message across, but the acting...??? Benjamin and Brolin were just so wooden and non - animated...and they were the humans!

At least Yul Brynner had presence and brought some gravitas to his role.

This is one film which IMO could benefit from a remake

Yep, Firefly! Still wish they'd reboot that series. Awesome sci-fi western.

If TV counts, Brisco County, Jr.

reply

Personally. Brisco sucked

Of all the flicks mentioned Westworld was the better movie even with it flaws

Cowboys and Aliens takes second, can't put my finger on it but something was missing, or there was to much something, maybe the love interest with the alien

Wouldn't mind seeing Ford, or the 007 dude in other westerns

You don't have to stand tall, but you have to stand up!

I think the music video for Muse's Knights of Cydonia got all of the above beat!

That was great fun, thanks for the link!

A cartoon called Bravestaar

in addition to the new tv series Westworld, inspired by this film, I recommend checking out Wynonna Earp, another sci-fi/western tv series.

Though, personally, I did very much enjoy Cowboys & Aliens and can't wait for more of this genre.
