For the most boring movie I have ever seen in my entire life. I absolutely love Pacino as an actor and he was alright in this movie... It's just that this was so horribly boring..I mean, c'mon. I was just sitting for the bajillion hours long it was and just waiting for something interesting to happen. Yeah, yeah, you're gonna flame me and whatnot, but whatever, this is my opinion.

P.S. Did the music annoy anyone else? It just seemed out-of-place for some reason.

I respect your opinion but please respect others. I just watched it for the first time last night and expecting nothing, I liked it. And I dont even usually like Al. What was so boring? When the black guys were raping the girl? The basketball arrest? The party? Well, I'll give you that. But if you werent excited when Serpico's trying to get through the door and that Star Wars guy pops up in your head? But as I say, you didnt like the movie hence this thread and I guess that's fine. People have to have an opinion or they die. The only thing I didnt like about the film was the ending.

The Prestige
Pulp Fiction

are not character studies by any means

You can blame the simplistic studio heads for that one. Lumet didn't want a score, it was forced upon him. So he kept it as minimal as he could.

I though the score sounded extremely close to godfather for some reason. I cna see how some peopel amy think it is boring. People have different tastes, thats what makes humans interesting. Personally i loved this movie. A bit faster movie with similar theming could be considered Carlito's way i guess. However i have my own dislikes. For example i disliked Day Dog Afternoon. Hated 2001. and those are usually highly regarded.

There's nothing wrong with the film as far as I'm concerned... but it barely cracks my top 10 from '73.

I dragged a bit in places, but as a drama and character study (as opposed to some action flick) it was a pretty decent movie.
