Serpico's 14 shot pistol.

When Serpico was at the practice firing line, he fired 15 times without reloading from a 14 rnd clip(magazine). Maybe there was one rnd already chambered. It has been mentioned that no fired cartridges could be heard being ejected. I noticed that after the 15 rnd firing sequence ended, Serpico's gun wasn't smoking and the slide didn't come back and lock.

Hi Wendi14501,

I've noticed that. A good example would be in some old JAG episodes when they were firing those 9mm pistols. They sounded like glorified cap guns. An exception would be in the 1953 movie, "Shane." Those gunshots bore some pretty good semblence to reality.

The audience would be deafened

Of course a round was chambered; otherwise, it couldn't have begun firing to begin with. And in an indoor range, the boom of even a 9mm firing would be loud enough to hurt your eardrums, and would have totally drowned out the minuscule sound of shell casings being ejected.
