Kris Kristofferson too old.

Any know why Kris Kristofferson was cast as Billy the Kid? He was about 37 years old when this was made. Billy the Kid died when he was only 21. To me, this ruins the movie.

...James Coburn was much too old to play Pat Garrett. No one complains about that.

According to Billy's words to a census taker, he would have been 26 when he died. Of course, he could have been lying, but who knows?
