There are two cuts...
Which one is better, the 2005 or 1989, I have the DVD and these are the editions they have on it, which one would you recommend.

I recommend the Turner Cut from the 80s.

Believe it or not, I prefer the 2005 edition!!! I have always been familiar with (and enjoyed) the original theatre cut, the one that was severely edited. I find that the 2005 version is closer to the version I'm familiar with.
I really don't like the "bookend" concept of the Turner cut, I think it's distracting and unnecessary, especially the use of black and white & slow motion. Makes it look like it doesn't belong. I know the 2005 version has it as well, but not as much.
