Please can someone explain why Rosie Carver was killed instead of James Bond? On the island, as Rosie is running away from Bond, a scarecrow vomits a bullet that kills Rosie. Would it not have made more sense to kill Bond instead? Can someone explain please?
shareBond figured out that Rosie was a double agent. Why they killed Rosie instead of Bond? Not sure to be honest. But in the next scene Tee Hee does say "the girl was about to confess, we had to kill her." I think it was a case of Bond knowing Rosie was a double agent but he didn't know that Kananga had sent her to kill him. But at the same time thats still not a no valid reason why they killed Rosie instead of Bond.
sharePerhaps she set off a booby trap or trip wire, as she ran past the hidden projectile in the Scarecrow? It could have very well been intended for Bond however, Rosie panicked as soon as she saw the voodoo doll, and ran towards the trap, as Teehee mentioned. Kananga had to accept Rosie's death nonetheless, as the Tarot cards did predict it would happen.

sharei think it's best not to try and make too much sense of the bond movies, that's why moore handled the part right in adding a light humour to it, just enjoy the ride, like in austin powers when michael york breaks the fourth wall and says to the camera "i suggest you do the same", like when i was a kid and friends asked what the movie was about and i didn't know what to say... uuuh... bond saves the world. right? i don't know why but this feels more aged and cheaper than the previous "diamonds are forever" (1971) and the next "the man with the golden gun" (1974) and it feels a bit slower moving than moore's other flicks, rosie had a terrible destiny, she was cute too. how about smoking a cigar while flying in the night sky, notice there is a lot of smoking in the earlier bond flicks but i heard they gave it up since it sends the wrong message and these are popular among kids, i think this is the last he smokes in. bit nasty how bond tricked the bond girl with the cards. "are you sure that was your brother in law, sheriff?".
