It didn't make me cry but it has its moments. Beautiful story
shareI relived the movie jsut ealrier 'cause I bought the DVD at Wal-Mart and I cried so much myself. I'm a guy and I'm 19 but I love the movie so much it's great!
shareI saw it right after I read the book in 2nd grade - and I must admit, the movie is very close to EB White's book. The only difference is that the movie makes me cry even more.
I'm a 29-year-old chick, I still watch the movie on occasion to this day, and there's nothing at all wrong with dudes crying.
I'm male and almost 17 years old, and Charlotte's final song always makes me sniffle at the very least.
Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.
I'm fighting back tears just reading about you lot crying! This movie used to make me cry so much when i was little and if i watched it now i'm sure i'd be sobbing like crazy. So sad...
shareyou know that last part when the baby spiders leave wilbur, that part was so funny!! "No! please don't go!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
I'm not being sarcastic, I seriously think it's funny!
I think society puts a lot of pressure on adults, especially males not to cry at things. Especially kids movies, but yeah. I just watched this again, I'm 18, I'm a guy, and I cried for like the first time in two years. It was odd. I wondered if I was capable of crying anymore.
And that, as they say, is that.

first saw it aged 14 after years of hearing my mum go on and on and on about it, I eventually bought her the DVD, she was almost in tears lol and it made me a little sad but sent a powerful message
shareI watched this tonight, and I just sat there weeping after Charlotte died. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who found this movie sob-worthy. =)

Charlottes death doesn't make me cry as much as when the narrator says at the end about a true friend and a good writer are a rare combo. Something like that. I had friend that had that combo who passed away and that line always makes me think of her.
"Richard, were you watching...spanktrovision??"
Agreed. So that's 2 crying scenes for me. Charlotte dying and the part where the narrator said "Charlotte was in a class by herself" -- or something to that effect.
The musical underscore had a profound effect, too.
I saw this for the first time on TV in the mid to late 1970s when I was around 8 or 9, and I don't think I cried at all. But I do remember thinking it was sad at the end, similair to Old Yeller. I then watched it some more times on TV later in the 1970s and during the 1980s, and it still had this sad effect on me. But I never cried, the only thing I cried over were Godzilla movies during the 1970s (???). Anyway, I did like it, and was aware from the 1970s it was based on E.B. White's classical novel, and looked foward to the times I got to see it on TV. I don't think I ever rented it out on our VCR to watch after the early 1980s, but I do plan to watch it on DVD this December if possible, shortly before I go to see the new Charlotte's Web.

I'm also a male, and while I didn't cry as such, it WAS a very sad ending, but also quite rousing as well that three of Charlotte's daughters stayed with Wilbur and befriended him after Charlotte died. It always reduced my brother to tears, and my sister used to rewind the tape and replay it over and over!
share"but also quite rousing as well that three of Charlotte's daughters stayed with Wilbur and befriended him after Charlotte died."
Generation after generation of the short-lived Charlotte clan befriended Wilbur.
you can't fight in here, this is the war room!
That's almost certainly true, tho I haven't seen the film since the early '90s, so can't quite remember how it ended, I only remember that three of Charlotte's daughters decided to stay with Wilbur...
sharethis movie never made me cry. i guess i just wasn't that sad charlotte died. i'm afraid of spiders, so i guess i was happy she was gone. she makes me uncomfortable, but someone gave us the dvd and my kids just love it. they are 1 1/2 and almost 3. i hope that they don't develop a fear of spiders like i did, but so far they seem to like them. they don't cry though because they don't understand death i think.

i just finished watching it for the first time in about 8 years. i started to tear up just hearing the music in the opening credits. i'm 17 now by the way, and a girl. any movie that i watched growing up really affects me. my dad died since then and i always remember watching these types of movies with him.

The song they play when Charlotte is creating something for Wilbert with her web in the middle of the film is beautiful and brings back childhood memories. I know it's a male choir that sings but I don't know the name of the group.

I've seen this movie twice like 10 years ago. I think we had it rented or something. I only saw the 2nd half and the spider passing away made me cry both times. Probably the saddest movie. I don't cry often at movie too.
shareIt's so sad because Charlotte was able to save Wilbur's life using her abilities, but Wilbur can't do anything to prevent Charlotte's dying. Plus the song Charlotte sings really brings the event home.
