Who here has seen the live-action remake?
And can they tell us if it's worth watching and how it compares to this?

In my opinion, I think the animated version is more faithful to the book then the live action version, but in the live action version, Templeton used 3rd person narration, which means that he said things like "The rat rules!" and he called himself "The Rat".
Although, I thought Paul Lynde would have done better. He played Templeton in the animated version. Too bad he died in 1982. He was brilliant in every TV/movie role he was given.
I went to see the new one on New Years Eve and it was pretty good. It is not quite the same as this one, but it is pretty good!
sharePrefer the cartoon version because of the singing and dancing inlcluding Templeton's song during the fair. Love that song.
shareI'm boycotting the film. First of all, it could never be half as good as the original, my favourite childhhood film and they've also made Charlotte an ugly ordinary spider, she is meant to be blue.

I have, and am now treating both this and the cartoon equally, both serving the E.B. White work fairly well.

Actually, in the book, she is grey.
I'm just saying...
I saw it last night and it was really good. I haven't seen the cartoon or read the book in over 18 years, but from what I remember it is pretty faithful to the book, without the songs.

Ooo this is an old post, isn't it? I thought it was quite good, the IMDB ratings are at odds, I'd rate the original in the 7s and this one just below it, the original was more touching...I also preferred Wilbur's voice there, but this is really good.
shareI also preferred Henry Gibson (RIP) as the voice of Wilbur. Though the young actor Dominick Scott Kay also did a superb job voicing the young porker in the 2006 film, I think they should have also used another older actor to voice the character in the later scenes to show that Wilbur was growing up.
shareI would say both are worth watching for different reasons.
