Avery or Fern The older Sibling?

It appears that fern is more mature than Avery and she gets interetested in Henry Fussy before we see Avery getting involved with any girls but he is a bit taller it's tough to say or could we assume that they're twins or is it like the question the viewers sometimes ask like when I saw the first two vacation movies i didn't know which one was older Rusty or Audrey it isn't til Christmas vacation that Audrey is obviously the older sibling in that movie

In the book, Avery is the older sibling. At the start of it, it mentions he's ten years old while Fern is only eight.

Eight years old and going on dates, getting flowers! Can't be the same as the book. Fern's maturing too fast! But honestly, I really liked how they showed Henry and Fern growing up. I haven't seen the sequal but it would be nice to see their first kiss. They really gotta get more into that in the second film. I love stories about first love. First love is probably the most exciting and sensual of all! Let Wilbur be shipped off to a farm where Fern comes to visit once every year and show the years passing. The only thing I wish could be shown, is the parents being efectionet. I think that's what makes the whole Fern and Henry thing so appealing. Oh and i also think Wilbur was jealous of Henry. Yep, Wilbur needs a girlfriend!

Dorothy:"I looked into the mirror and saw a tired old woman." Rose:"Who was it?"

I love the whole Fern/Henry relationship too! It's much more subtle in the book. If I remember correctly, he asks her to ride the Ferris Wheel with him and she goes on about it for days. There's one moment when she's sledding with Avery and Avery teases her for talking about it so much and she realizes she has a crush on Henry. All those extra scenes with him were added for the movie, but I love them. It's a very subdued and innocent relationship but very sweet and true to life.
And Wilbur was sooo jealous of Henry. Why wouldn't he be? Henry isn't radiant.

That's what makes Charlotte's passing away all the more sad. She was probably the closest he ever had to a girlfriend. At least he still had the 3 other spiders in the end - they were cute!
