Watching it now that I'm an adult...

It brings back some wonderful childhood memories. However, watching it now I've realized how much of a whiny self absorbed sissy Wilbur was. I mean, here's Charlotte trying to save his life and she can't even eat because it makes him uncomfortable??!! I'm sorry if that sounds mean but that's just the first thought that comes to mind with Wilbur now. Still, I enjoy it from time to time.

OK, I've seen quite a few posters bashing Wilbur's whininess, and the problem is that he has the voice of an adult male, yet - in reality - he's supposed to be a child, essentially.

I don't know exactly how "pig years" work, but all throughout the movie, he's not even a year old. Something I just found online said a 1-year-old pig is roughly equivalent to an 18-year-old human. So, at most, he's a young teenager.

I think his behavior is appropriate for a child or teen who's found out they're going to be slaughtered in a few months. But hearing him lament with a full-grown man's voice is what makes it just odd.

Yeah they should have had a teenager do the voice for Wilbur, that would have made more sense. 

Yep. And actually, Wilbur is even far younger than I initially suggested - he was born in spring, and the movie ends with the fair, which is presumably in the summertime. Even if it was a very late-summer fair and he was born in early spring, that would still only make him, what, six months old? Which, according to that article I read, would be the equivalent to a 9-year-old human. So he's basically just a kid reacting pretty understandably to finding out he's going to be butchered.

If you haven't read the book, it's worth reading. One thing I like about the book is, Charlotte shows Wilbur a way she has of "numbing up" her "victims" when she's about to eat them, so they don't feel any pain when she kills them. That way Wilbur is assuaged of his uneasiness about Charlotte eating other bugs, and she doesn't have to go without her food.
