Breakdown- 1997

Years ago in the early 90's I called into Larry King with Leonard Maltin and his movie book. I asked about this obscure TV movie and then they looked it up to patronize me. I suspect Jonathan Mostow or somebody heard about it and then Breakdown was made. I also called once before and asked how to get into the movie business and Larry said 'get a job'.

I liked "Breakdown", but I liked "Dying Room Only" far better. I wasn't even alive when this was on TV, I just now got it on DVD. The music, the general feel of the movie was great.

Other two movies that are sorta like this one, "Duel", and "Night Terror". I have "Duel", that was an awesome first Steven Speilburg TV movie. I highly recomend that one if your into older thrillers. As of "Night Terror", I have never seen it and I can not find it. All I know some lady sees a murder and the killer chases her in the New Mexico/AZ desert. I would love to find of copy of that one.

BREAKDOWN? Come to think of it, yes.... that makes total sense, though this movie is better. Phylis is fantastic in this....

That was very rude of Larry. You should have told him that you were at that very moment in his bed having sex with his 27-year-old wife.

I'm sure King meant, get a job at a very low level for little pay on a small production and work your way up the ladder.

Think about the question you asked him. What else COULD he have said? Was it really such bad advice?

reply

I definitely see the similarities. I do think Breakdown is the superior film, but Dying Room Only is an excellent thriller in its own right.
