now this is the version i keep returning to on every halloween, i also like the 1930s (bela lugosi: - "i never drink... wine.") and christopher lee's portrayal, but this is a chance to see jack palance in the part, both him and lee has been featured in elvira's movie collections, another thing, palance was suppose to be playing lee's part in "the man with the golden gun" which sort of explains that flick's western movie vibe. this is the most moving "dracula" i have ever seen, the powerful scenes where palance as dracula cries out for lucy. that's some real drama right there. the photography, the settings. this moviemaker and palance also worked together on "the strange case of dr. jekyll and mr. hyde" (also my favorite jekyll & hyde version, you know bbc has made a radio dramatization of that, right? not bad at all, i rather enjoyed it.)
