Dan Curtis had asked Jonathan Frid to play Dracula

Dan Curtis had asked Jonathan Frid to play Dracula but turned the role down, he asked Jack Palance. He had played for Dan Curtis before he had played in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

I'm glad he didn't, It would have just felt like another episode of "Dark Shadows"

Jack Palance was remembered in Dan Curtis's TV version Dr. Jeykle and Mr. Hyde. Jack agreed to play Dracula TV version 1973.

That would've been interesting to see. I agree with the other person, though. It would've felt like a remake of House of Dark Shadows.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

reply

Dan Curtis would disagree..yet you would be right but he wanted the audience...ratings high for NBC.

reply

Well, Dark Shadows is my favorite show so the movie feeling like just another episode of it wouldn't be a bad thing. I think Jack and Jonathan both would be good in that role.

Death lives in the Vault of Horror!

I'm glad he didn't take the role. The only formidable vampire Jonathan Frid needs to be known for is Barnabas Collins.
