Just saw it for the first time.......WOW!

I can see why some people don't like that it doesn't all add up, or that it does in a "life is unpredictable and messy and so are the little connections between everyday things" kinda way. It's not typicall thats for sure. But the opening scene is a masterpiece of editing and forshadowing. The cross cutting. How it starts with lots of long slow pans and shots but even then somehow you KNOW something bad is going to happen. That technique is used throughout if you pay attention. Every sequence is it's own little set piece of editing, forhsadowing, reveal etc. It creates an untangible mood and atmosphere like none other. Does the ending make sense? well, I think so, I think it fits right in with the "random acts of fate" that seem supifurously intertwined kind of way. But again, The 6'th Sense this aint.

"The opening scene is a masterpiece of editing and foreshadowing".

Talking of the foreshadowing, one thing I only lately noticed, is that thereĀ“s a white horse running in the background in the very first shot of the film - white horse being a harbinger of death in the Far East mythology (one of those things one can learn from watching Twin Peaks).
