'I felt you were right; I felt we suit'...

Why did the 'able-eyed' (or non-blind, or seeing, or has someone else got a better word for it?!) sister say this, as the two sisters walked away from the restaurant toilets together, after that first encounter with Julie Christie's character? I have been puzzling over this. Maybe it is a stupid question, maybe it is obvious to someone else who is familiar with the film?

PS I love this film I think it gets better with each viewing!

I think it's because they feel it's the right thing to pass on an optimistic vision of the afterlife to John and Laura. But in initially making contact with Laura, they failed to foresee (oh dear!) how she might react to their message, though afterwards they still feel justified in their actions.
