WHAT WAS THIS?!!!!

I love films of this era, they take time to tell a story & have great atmosphere.

But this one made zero sense to me, and dragged on.

What was this film 'about'???!!I could not even follow it!

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I enjoyed the atmosphere. The setting and the cinematography were delicious. (Ahhh, Venice)
But I agree the pacing was a bit too slow at places.
