Sutherlands character seemingly knew the girl was drowning and what did it have to do with the slide of the church. Was it just foreshadowing

One of the sisters says he has the same gift, he just doesn't know it.

i think we're meant to infer that he has second sight himself, but doesn'tr ealise it, or is in denial about it or something.
