I suspect there is no health issue with Colin and altruism have never been in his DNA. This is probably just another scheme of his to con Jill out of a large sum of money. It is more likely he has debt from gambling or borrowing from loan sharks and now needs to pay up.

lennonforever, I will try to keep an open mind. Based on Colin's track record for engaging in some form of subterfuge, I immediately took a cynical view.
On another track, TPTB seem to be trying to redeem TGVN and have begun to place some of Victor's less-than-redeeming qualities onto others. Jack's trickery with the Fenmore deal is a perfect example. In addition, the two characters who have always come with ulterior motives are Colin and Gloria.
